Stress Relieving Activities

Feeling stressed? Stress can come from a lot of different sources, but it is important to not let it get in the way of your everyday life. To help residents of The Mansions at Spring Creek combat stress, we are sharing a few stress-relieving practices in today’s post. The next time you are feeling stressed take a moment to breathe and try one of these activities to help you refocus.

Journal
Journaling has all sorts of benefits, so pick up a notebook or start a virtual one. The physical act of writing down your frustrations and worries will actually help by making them seem more concrete. Write about the things you’re grateful for, the things you are proud of about yourself, and the moments in life you want to remember. Be real with yourself, so write or take note of less “positive” things, like your struggles and what you learn from them. Writing down even a line or two a day can make a big difference in shifting your mindset to a more generous one, which can alleviate much of your stress.

Exercise
This may be one of your ongoing goals, and we think there’s no time quite like the present to push yourself to simply start. So get your heart pumping by trying a new exercise routine or doing something you know you like. This can help you to let go of worries and help you to feel more control over your life. It doesn’t matter what form of exercise you choose. There will be benefits to simply doing!

Talk to Someone
Whether it is a trained counselor or just a friend or family member, talking to someone about what is stressing you can be helpful. Getting it out helps to relieve the burden off your back and help you to feel less isolated and alone. The person you talked to may not be able to do much more than provide some words of comfort or encouragement, but having them there just to listen and let you vent can provide the relief that you need.
